Courthouse Steps : Twist

You ever get started on a project and cut all the strips and organize a layout and get started and then figure out 24 hours before you’re post goes up that you want to change everything?

Just me?

That’s what I did. I had planned this project out with white and Nordika strips in mind. Then the urge hit me for a complete different color scheme. More color controlled and planned.

So I cut a stack of lovely peach and mint strips:

This month’s twist is using the construction of the Courthouse Steps block as inspiration with a diamond center to start it out:

The center diamond is 2.5″ (measuring the sides) while my strips are 2″ wide.

I’m already in love with this new stack of Courthouse Diamonds. I’m starting a little pile of them and seeing how many I can create for a full top. I’m loving how there is a soft but striking different between the colors.

Plus the center fabric has sparkles.

That’s it for Courthouse Steps month! I’ll be back early next week with June’s Starter Block.

I’m really enjoying building these blocks of each month. I’m finding a lot of comfort in revisiting some traditional favorites and then coming up with ways to give them a new look.
